Davies: I was approached by Scotland

Bolton captain Kevin Davies has revealed he was approached last season about the possibility of playing for Scotland. Davies, born in Sheffield, is yet to win a senior England cap despite being tipped for a call-up to the national squad throughout his time with Wanderers. The 33-year-old striker was contacted towards the end of the 2009-10 campaign about representing Scotland instead, but Davies felt he had to turn the offer down. "I spoke to someone about it at the end of last season," Davies told the Bolton News. "They wanted to know if I had any Scottish relatives and to be honest, I wasn't too sure at the time, so I didn't take it any further. "You'd think with a name like Davies, I'm more likely to have Welsh blood in me. As far as I'm concerned I'm English, so I didn't really take it on."
