SUNDERLAND, England (AFP) - Paraguay defender Paulo Da Silva has finally been given the green light to join Sunderland ahead of their opening Premier League match at Bolton on Saturday.[LNB]Da Silva agreed to move to the Stadium of Light from Mexican side Toluca last month but had to wait to be granted a visa before he could fly to England.[LNB]The paperwork has now been completed and the central defender is able to link up with his new team-mates in time for the start of the season.[LNB]Assistant manager Eric Black told the club's official website: "Paulo's work permit is sorted, his visa, his flights - you name it. He's en route as we speak and it will be great to have him here.[LNB]"We will have to see where he is physically as we've not seen him for six weeks, but it's more competition for places."
