Coyle wary of Bale threat

olton manager Owen Coyle concedes it will be "difficult" trying to stop Gareth Bale but believes his players will rise to the challenge.

Bale was outstanding down the left on Tuesday as Tottenham romped to a 3-1 victory against holders Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Next stop is the Reebok Stadium on Saturday with feisty full-back Gretar Steinsson expected to shadow the galloping Welshman.

Coyle said: "How do you stop Bale? With difficulty. But it is the same every week in this league.

"If it is not Gareth Bale, it is Didier Drogba, Fernando Torres, Wayne Rooney or (Dimitar) Berbatov. That is why we love being at this level.

"You are playing against outstanding players, world class players. We will be respectful of the opposition but we won't be fearful.

"Bale is an outstanding young player. He is getting better game by game. But he will be the first to tell you he is only as good as his team-mates because they give him the ball in the right areas.

"You have to give credit as well to Harry Redknapp for pushing him on a position from full-back. Bale has benefited and is really involved in the role."

Coyle also believes Spurs boss Redknapp would be "a perfect fit" for England when Fabio Capello steps down, and that there would be few dissenters if it were to happen.

He added: "If and when Mr Capello decides after his contract expires he doesn't want to do the job any more, Harry Redknapp would be the perfect candidate to be the next England manager.

"I think the whole country would be pleased about that. He is an outstanding manager and a terrific man, who has been very helpful to me. He has always given of his time very generously.

"Harry is picking up Champions League experience as well and has had success wherever he has been.

"Harry Redknapp and England sounds right to me. For me he is an elite manager. The great thing about him is he has worked his socks off to earn that right. He has been working at the coal face. Not only that his eye for a player is terrific."
