Coyle plots United downfall

Owen Coyle insists he has already put his stormy Carling Cup exit out of his mind to start plotting Manchester United's derby downfall this weekend. The Wanderers boss has closed the book on defeat against his former club Burnley, turning his attention to Sunday and the visit of Sir Alex Ferguson's Reds. After making eight changes at Turf Moor, Coyle is looking forward to getting his whole squad back together for a few days before what is sure to be another emotionally-charged encounter. "It's happened, we're out of the cup and we can't get it back now," he said. "My focus is now on getting the group back together, including the eight lads who didn't play, and turning our focus on Manchester United. "It's a very tough game, a local derby, against some of the very best players in world football, but that's exactly why we're in the job." Coyle is keen to consign talk of Tuesday night's Turf Moor defeat to the past, and with it, the long-running feud over his decision to quit Burnley for Wanderers in January. "I have closed that chapter and moved on," he said. "The decision to leave Burnley wasn't right, wrong or indifferent, it was just a decision. "If people want to keep dragging it up then it's up to them. I'm as focused on my job as I ever was, regardless of what people want to say." The Whites boss singled out young striker Rodrigo as one of his most impressive midweek performers, and reckons he has a few selection decisions to make ahead of the United game. "Young Rodrigo was terrific, it was great to see him out there," he said. "We had a lot of quality out there, but there is also a lot more to come back in. "I said to the lads in the dressing room that it's not often after a defeat you can look back and take so many positives, but there were a lot to take."
