Derby manager Nigel Clough is keen to have Bolton defender Nicky Hunt on loan again next season.
The right-back, who is on loan at the Championship club until the end of this campaign, had not made a single appearance this season before joining the Rams at the start of January.
Clough believes Hunt has added quality to his side and would like to see the 26-year-old back at Pride Park.
"Nicky has got a year left at Bolton and his wages at the moment are a bit prohibitive. We are only paying a percentage of them so unless something happens at the Bolton end, we couldn't do anything," said Clough.
"But if we could do a similar sort of deal to what we have now, a half-season or season-long loan in August, we would be very, very interested in doing that."
Clough added: "We have seen him for a few weeks now and he has been excellent. He was not getting first-team football at Bolton and so that may work in our favour."
