Chaill keen to improve record

Bolton defender Gary Cahill was relieved to finally hit the back of the net on Saturday - and vowed to improve his goalscoring record for the club. Cahill rose to head home the winner with a minute to go as Wanderers won their first Premier League points of the season with a 3-2 victory at fellow basement-boys Portsmouth. It provided redemption for Cahill, who had wasted a glorious opportunity moments earlier and now hopes to be on target more regularly. "To score the winning goal was pleasing because I was disappointed not to have stuck away a couple of other chances," Cahill told the club`s official website. "But you can't keep that on your mind and let it affect your performance too much. "I knew I should have scored earlier in the game but I kept battling away and obviously I have scored the winner, so I redeemed myself. "I do want to get goals and it's something I can add to my game. To be fair, I've been unlucky in a few games this season and thankfully on Saturday I managed to get onto my own flick on - so I set myself up!"
