Cahill waiting for England debut

07 June 2009 15:42
Bolton defender Cahill failed to make the bench in Saturday's 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Kazakhstan in Almaty, with coach Fabio Capello preferring to keep Joleon Lescott as central defence back-up among his subsitutes. John Terry and Matt Upson played the full 90 minutes. Ferdinand has a calf injury and did not travel to Kazakhstan, and will again not be risked for the clash against the Andorrans at Wembley. Capello may shake up his side for a match England are expected to win comfortably, so Cahill will be eager to impress in training over the next few days.
