Cahill backed for regular England action
Kevin Davies and Owen Coyle have championed Gary Cahill's case for regular inclusion in the England fold.[LNB] The Bolton defender made his international debut as a substitute against Bulgaria in September but then played no part in the win over Switzerland.[LNB]He was then left out of the initial squad to face Montenegro last week before being called up to replace the injured Phil Jagielka, although again he did not get on the pitch.[LNB]Cahill has insisted he is prepared to bide his time and keep focusing on his performances at club level, but Bolton team-mate Davies can understand why he might be getting frustrated.[LNB]However, Davies knows what it is like to have to wait for an England opportunity, having earned his first cap at the age of 33 against Montenegro.[LNB]Davies does not believe Cahill will have to be that patient and feels the centre-back is good enough to establish himself as first choice.[LNB]"It's only a matter of time before Gary becomes an England regular," said the striker.[LNB]"I know he is very frustrated with the situation on the England front, but I have told him not to be."[LNB]Coyle has backed Cahill to become an England regular on numerous occasions in the past and feels he has the attitude as well as the ability to cut it at the highest level.[LNB]"He could have sulked after not being picked by England in midweek, but there are a lot of great things about him," said the Bolton manager.[LNB]"Because of the trials and tribulations he has had in his short career (he was sidelined for several months last season through injury), he has the mental strength to go with it."
