Middlesbrough are looking to conclude a loan deal for Bolton defender Andy O'Brien this week. The 30-year-old was watched by Boro scouts in the reserves last week and is keen on the move so he can get regular first team football. However, Gary Megson is reluctant to leave his defence without experienced cover and may yet decide to block the deal. Former Republic of Ireland defender O'Brien has played 66 Premier League games for Bolton since he signed for them in 2007 but is out of favour in the first team ta present, Megson preferring Gary Cahill and Zat Knight at the heart of the Trotters' defence. Boro are also keen on bringing in another striker after Caleb Folan, who was brought in from Hull, tore his hamstring.
