The news comes following weeks of speculation over the 23-year-old's future after Everton and Tottenham both admitted they were keen on negotiating a deal. But with talks finally coming to an end, Cahill is ready to commit his future to Bolton much to the delight of manager Gary Megson. "He's been monitored by a lot of big clubs, so his decision to stay is one of the best signings we could have made. "I believe he's easily the best young centre-back in the country. "He's had another great season and I believe it's only a matter of time before he plays for England on a regular basis. "Not only is he an outstanding footballer, he is a great lad to have around the place and I'm delighted that he sees his future lies with Bolton Wanderers." Cahill has enjoyed a successful 18 months with Bolton since joining from Aston Villa, and his form at club level has not gone unnoticed with him sitting on the fringes of Fabio Capello's England squad. Meanwhile, striker Kevin Davies has said he wants to end his career at the Reebok Stadium amid summer interest from Blackburn and Hull. The 32-year-old has two years remaining on his contract and with Megson reportedly rejecting a bid from Phil Brown last month, Davies is confident he is a valued member of the squad. "I hope that I can finish my career at Bolton," he told the Mirror. "I am happy both on and off the pitch. It feels like home. I have two years left on my contract and unless the club want to sell me, I would be happy to stay here for the rest of my career. "I like it at Bolton. There is always a challenge here. We have done well in the past getting into Europe and a cup final when people have written us off. I guess I love the underdog aspect of it all. "Even now, people will be writing us off again and I want to prove them wrong. We are not far away from getting back to the days when we used to have success under Sam Allardyce. "We are maybe a little light on numbers, but the manager is working hard to correct that. It would be great to get back into Europe and that has to be a target, but it is difficult now with teams like Manchester City spending a lot of money."
