Bolton hope for positive news on Proctor

Bolton hope striker Jamie Proctor will be fit for their Sky Bet League One opener at home to Sheffield United.

The 24-year-old followed new Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson from Bradford in the summer but was left out of last weekend's friendly against Preston so as not to aggravate a groin problem.

Fellow forward Zach Clough also missed that game with a hamstring issue but should be ready in time, although defender Dorian Dervite (knee) is unlikely to feature. Centre-back David Wheater is back in the squad having formally re-signed on Wednesday after being released in the summer.

Parkinson has a choice to make over who starts in goal, with Mark Howard seemingly just ahead of Ben Amos in the pecking order.

Sheffield United have no significant injury concerns as they look to bed in a number of new signings.

Chris Wilder has made wholesale changes to his squad since taking over from Nigel Adkins, with seven new faces replacing seven who were transfer-listed and 10 who were released.

Striker Leon Clarke, signed from Bury, was the last to arrive and is expected to partner captain Billy Sharp up front.

Wilder will also have a new-look defence, having brought in Chris Hussey, James Wilson, Jack O'Connell and Jake Wright, while Mark Duffy and John Fleck will hope for competitive debuts in midfield.
