Dougie Freedman is expected to select from a similar squad for Bolton's Sky Bet Championship meeting with Middlesbrough at the Reebok Stadium.

The Trotters boss had to do without Neil Danns and Kevin McNaughton at Leicester on Sunday, both loan deals having expired, and Joe Mason could make his final appearance before returning to Cardiff on January 5.

Freedman, who remains without Stuart Holden (knee), has often shuffled his pack this term and Mark Davies is one name likely to be back in the starting line-up, the former Wolves midfielder having been on the bench against the Foxes following his recent long-term knee injury.

Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan saved a penalty at the King Power Stadium and should continue with Adam Bogdan (knee) still out, while makeshift left-back Alex Baptiste could slot in that region again with Marc Tierney (foot) missing.

Midfielder Dean Whitehead is missing for Middlesbrough through suspension.

The 31-year-old picked up his fifth booking of the season in Sunday's 3-0 home victory over Reading.

Keeper Shay Given will play the final game of his existing loan spell from Aston Villa with no new arrangement yet in place.

Central defender Jonathan Woodgate is being assessed after missing the Reading game, although he was effectively rested rather than injured.

Full-backs Frazer Richardson (ankle) and Andy Halliday (hernia surgery) will also be checked as they prepare to return to action but striker Kei Kamara (medial ligaments), keeper Jason Steele (ankle) and Stuart Parnaby (knee/compassionate leave) remain on the sidelines.
