Bolton v Coventry

Liam Trotter will be suspended when Bolton meet Coventry at the Macron Stadium.

The midfielder was booked for a fifth time this term in the 2-0 victory over Millwall on Saturday, though he came off at half-time with a knock that he will now have time to recover from ahead of the weekend's trip to Northampton.

David Wheater may return for that fixture having been sidelined by a back issue picked up in training last week and for the moment he is out along with Max Clayton (knee), Darren Pratley (broken leg) and Mark Davies (knee).

First-choice goalkeeper Mark Howard (thumb) is also missing until the new year, so Ben Alnwick will start once more, with teenager Jake Turner backing him up.

Midfielder Andy Rose will miss Coventry's trip to Bolton with a thigh strain, having also missed Saturday's 4-1 defeat at Oxford.

Kwame Thomas remains sidelined with a groin issue and is not expected to return for the Sky Blues until after Christmas.

Chris Stokes (knee) has returned to light training after missing the season so far and Chris McCann is struggling with a hamstring injury.

Caretaker manager Mark Venus is likely to make several changes after admitting his side could not cope in their heavy loss at the weekend.
