Youngsters get Bolton run-out
Bolton boss Dougie Freedman will play his youngsters against Bury in the Capital One Cup but has vowed to name at least five of the starting XI from Saturday's loss at Watford.
Freedman, whose side opened the new season with a 3-0 loss at Vicarage Road, believes the fact this derby contest comes at home means he can blood the likes of Andy Kellett, Chris Lester and Conor Wilkinson.
However, he also knows defeat to the Shakers would greatly displease his fanbase and may retain senior figures such as Jay Spearing and Matt Mills.
A toe injury meant midfielder Mark Davies missed Saturday's contest and this one might just come around too soon as well. Marc Tierney (broken leg) is still not ready to return either.
Bury manager David Flitcroft hopes the challenge of taking on a Championship side will help his team after they lost 1-0 to Cheltenham on Saturday.
Flitcroft admitted after the match that some of his players struggled to live up to their high expectations with full-backs Chris Hussey and Craig Jones looking particularly out of sorts.
One new recruit who did perform well was goalkeeper Shwan Jalal, who joined from Bournemouth over the summer. He is likely to retain the number one jersey ahead of Rob Lainton.
Fellow new addition James Poole will be hoping to start at the Macron Stadium after coming on as a late second-half substitute against the Robins.
