Teenager steps onto bench for Bolton Academy goalkeeper Jay Lynch is set to take a place on the substitutes' bench when Bolton entertain Bristol City in the npower Championship. Summer signing Andy Lonergan, deputy to number one Adam Bogdan, is laid low with a knee injury that brings 19-year-old Lynch into the reckoning. Jimmy Phillips will take charge of the first match since Owen Coyle was sacked as manager at the start of last week, and the caretaker boss told Wanderers' official website: "Unfortunately Andy has picked up a knee injury and we are still waiting to discover the full extent of it. He's one who won't be available for this weekend. "Jay Lynch will be drafted into the squad and it is a good opportunity for him. He has previously been on the bench in the Premier League last season, so we know he will cope fine with that. "Aside from Andy and our long-term injuries which have been well documented, we've got a clean bill of health. We are looking forward to welcoming back the five lads who have been away on international duty and working with them." Republic of Ireland midfielder Keith Andrews, South Korea wideman Lee Chung-Yong and England Under-21 striker Marvin Sordell head the international contingent, while Stuart Holden, David Wheater and Josh Vela (all knee) are the long-term absentees. Stephen McManus is set to make his second Bristol City debut. The 30-year-old defender joined the club on a three-month loan deal on Wednesday from Middlesbrough. McManus, who enjoyed a previous loan spell at Ashton Gate towards the end of last season, has only made one appearance for Boro this term. Fellow defender Joe Byran is expected to return after missing the Robins' last two games with concussion. The duo's return will be a huge boost for manager Derek McInnes who has been desperately short at the back in recent weeks. Midfielder Marvin Elliott faces a late check on a groin problem but could be named as a substitute. Left-back Greg Cunningham is still a couple of weeks away as he continues to recover from an ankle problem.
