Bolton to check Gardner injury

Bolton boss Gary Megson is praying Ricardo Gardner's season will not be ended by injury. The Trotters will assess the injury picked up by Gardner in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth. The Jamaican international lasted only 11 minutes of the game at Fratton Park before being substituted with a hamstring problem. He is now doubtful for Saturday's home clash with Aston Villa and Wanderers boss Gary Megson is hoping his season isn't over. "Bibi's (Gardner) injury is a problem because he's started scoring one or two goals," said Megson. "He's our most creative player with the ball at his feet. Hopefully it's not too bad." Megson had to bring on Fabrice Muamba to replace Gardner and he feels the change contributed to his side's defeat. "We had to change it and we became more solid. But we didn't want to become more solid. "We lost a little bit of that impact that Bibi can give us."
