25 July 2009 18:35
Bolton kicked off their pre-season tour of Germany and Holland with a 1-1 draw at Borussia Monchengladbach. Gavin McCann gave Bolton the lead in the first half, but Raul Bobadilla's late strike earned the German side a share of the spoils. Bolton went in front on 26 minutes when Johan Elmander headed the ball down into the path of McCann who smashed the ball into the net. Gary Megson made a host of changes at the break as his changes gave Monchengladbach the initiative as they dominated proceedings. The home side drew level 15 minutes from time when Bobadilla held off Danny Shittu to drill the ball home. Bolton keeper Adam Bogdan denied Monchengladbach a winner in the final minute when he produced a superb save to keep out Oliver Neuville's free-kick.
