Bolton Head For High Court Confident They Can Avoid Being Wound Up

Sky Bet Championship club Bolton head to the High Court on Monday still confident they can avoid being wound up over an unpaid tax bill.

Wanderers have sent their legal representatives down to the capital for a winding-up hearing which was brought against them following £2.2million of unpaid VAT and PAYE.

Press Association Sport understands it is inconceivable, but not impossible, that they will fold as a result of that issue, as the club have a plan in place to buy more time via an extension.

That involves the proposed sale of a car park at the Macron Stadium, which resides next to the Middlebrook retail park, in a deal that could tie them over until the end of the current season.

It is understood that three-to-four parties are in active discussions about taking over from long-time owner Eddie Davies but, as yet, no one group has stumped up the cash to end Wanderers' financial turmoil.

Everything is up for sale while Bolton try to balance the books, including players and the club's training ground - and it is understood they are in discussions with both Preston and Wigan regarding the facilities at Euxton.
