Bolton duo in England lift

Gary Megson feels it is 'tremendously encouraging' that Bolton Wanderers duo Gary Cahill and Kevin Davies were close to an England call-up.[LNB] Centre-half Cahill and striker Davies were both considered by England coach Fabio Capello for the recent friendly defeat in Spain.[LNB]Capello ultimately overlooked the Trotters pair for his final 23-man squad for the game, but Megson has taken heart from the near miss.[LNB]The Bolton boss believes the fact Cahill and Davies were in Capello's provisional plans for the Spain friendly will prove to be an incentive.[LNB]Incentive"It was tremendously encouraging," said Megson.[LNB]"I was disappointed they didn't make the main squad, but it's an incentive to keep plugging away.[LNB]"We keep hearing Kevin doesn't score enough, but he's got nine now and is right on the heels of the country's top scorers.[LNB]"And it's only a matter of time until Gary breaks through."[LNB]
