Bolton belief returning - Megson

27 December 2009 13:17
Even though his side remain in the relegation zone after their 1-1 draw at Burnley on Boxing Day, Megson feels there are reasons to be cheerful ahead of the crucial home match with Hull on Tuesday.[LNB]The manager has seen the Wanderers defeat West Ham and draw with Manchester City and Fulham as well as Burnley in recent weeks.[LNB]The only blemish came at Wolves but since then there have been signs of improvement.[LNB]Megson said: "The Premiership is an unforgiving league. No-one expected us to get anything at Manchester City.[LNB]"We also had a great result against West Ham and then came to Turf Moor where Burnley are very strong.[LNB]"Manchester United did not get anything at the ground and neither did Everton.[LNB]"Although we are disappointed did not get the victory a point is probably fair for both teams."[LNB]Megson will be able to call on the services of Fabrice Muamba against Hull if need be after he missed the game yesterday through suspension.[LNB]The Bolton boss insists he cannot make wholesale changes to his side and could not freshen up his team, even if he wanted to.[LNB]"We do not have a squad big enough to do what other clubs can," he added.[LNB]"We wanted to get all three points at Burnley then go back to the Reebok and get a victory against Hull.[LNB]"We've had to settle for a point so we will now be looking for all three on Tuesday as that is part of the plan."[LNB]Midfielder Matt Taylor put Bolton ahead at Burnley with a superb free-kick after 29 minutes but they could not see the game out.[LNB]David Nugent equalised in the 56th minute with his third goal for the club after arriving on loan from Portsmouth.[LNB]Megson said: "Taylor's ratio of games to goals so far has not been as good as it was last year but he is capable of doing that.[LNB]"I was really pleased for him because he has taken criticism this season but he is still brave enough to take that.[LNB]"It was a fantastic strike."[LNB][LNB]
