Birmingham want to take Aruna Dindane on loan after his move to Bolton stalled. Lens do not want the Ivory Coast striker to return to Portsmouth and would prefer a £4m deal.

Birmingham, who are also competing with West Ham and Blackburn for Manchester City's Benjani, have seen an £8m bid for Roman Pavlyuchenko rejected by Tottenham. The 28-year-old is holding out for a move back to Russia.

City bound? Ivory Coast striker Aruna Dindane is a target of Birmingham City

Pavlyuchenko's agent Oleg Artemov said: 'Roman wouldn't go to Birmingham, he wants to return home. We are still within the transfer window and hopefully that will force Spurs to make concessions.'

Lokomotiv Moscow and Spartak remain interested in Pavlyuchenko, but are put off by the asking price. Birmingham striker Garry O'Connor is to miss the rest of the season as he recovers from a hip injury.
