Mihajlovic takes Bologna reins

Serie A strugglers Bologna have sacked coach Daniele Arrigoni and named former Internazionale number two Sinisa Mihajlovic as their new manager.

Arrigoni, who guided Bologna back to the top-flight last season, has paid the price for a dreadful start to the new campaign, which culminated in a 5-1 thrashing at Cagliari last weekend.

A statement on the club's official website confirmed: "Bologna FC 1909 would like to confirm that we have relieved coach Daniele Arrigoni of his duties.

"The club would like to reiterate their professional and human admiration for both the coach and his staff and we would like to praise his competence, dedication and the extraordinary results he achieved last season.

"We would like to thank him for this, but the coaching responsibilities will now be passed to Sinisa Mihajlovic."

Former Serbia international Mihajlovic worked under Roberto Mancini at Inter, leaving the san Siro in the summer when Jose Mourinho took over the top job.
