Rumours - Avram Grant to take over at West Ham

Gianfranco Zola has been given the backing of the board at West Ham, which can surely only mean one thing.

If the loveable Italian does exit stage left, Avram Grant is being tipped as the man to arrive at Upton Park in the summer.

The Daily Mirror reckon Pompey boss Grant is on a 'short list', having impressed the owners by leading the relegated side to the FA Cup final.

The 54-year-old is reportedly joined by Steve 'Schteeeve' McLaren, Martin Jol and Slaven Bilic on the Hammers' wanted list.

In other West Ham news, there are apparently plans to put every player at the club up for sale apart from Scott Parker.

Seeing as Parker has been their best player this season, it might prove hard to hold onto him - with Arsenal among the potential suitors suggested in the gossip columns.

Carlton Cole has been linked with a £10 million move to Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports Liverpool are lining up a £3m bid to sign 15-year-old Kristoffer Peterson from Savedalens FC.

The Swedish striker impressed on trial at Anfield and could be a star of the future.
