Rumours - Premier League stars Vela and Salcido linked to hookers and transvestite party

Finally Wayne Rooney has reason for cheer. After a couple of weeks on the front pages, Rooney has been trumped in the scandal stakes by Premier League stars Carlos Vela and Carlos Salcido.

The Arsenal and Fulham players have been linked to an alleged wild night of revelry following Mexico's 1-0 friendly win over Colombia.

According to a report in The Sun this morning, Arsenal star Vela and Fulham defender Salcido were among the Mexican players celebrating into the early hours at a private party in Monterrey.

The players are then alleged to have been joined by as many as 14 hookers and a transvestite, although there is no evidence to suggest any of them were involved in sexual relations with the women (or the man for that matter!).

On the transvestite front, Vela is allegedly among three players who sat talking to the man in question - with all of them completely unaware he was a she.

Salcido reacted to reports by saying: "If there is a fine to pay, I will accept it. I offer a personal apology, but the papers say we hired 15 prostitutes including a transvestite - and that did not happen.

"We had a few drinks, but that is as far as it went."
