Varney's debut impresses Holloway

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway praised the contribution of Luke Varney after he scored a glorious goal on his debut. Varney, on a season-long loan deal from Derby, put his side ahead against Fulham in their first ever Barclays Premier League match at a revamped Bloomfield Road. The striker, who only arrived on Friday, sent his effort across the face of goalkeeper David Stockdale after a through ball from Brett Ormerod. Although Dickson Etuhu equalised for Fulham with three minutes remaining, it could not prevent Holloway savouring Varney's strike. Holloway said: "Luke has got pace and his game suits the way I want to play. It looked like he had been with us all his life. "If you realise he has just walked into the building, how hard is my job? It is not easy. Players go here and there. They carry their kitbags. Sometimes it suits them, sometimes it doesn't. Hopefully he will have a wonderful relationship with us and keep doing what he did today."
