Varney wants to stay at Pool

Blackpool forward Luke Varney insists he will not be going anywhere in the January transfer window. The 28-year-old joined the Seasiders on a season-long loan from Derby in August and has reportedly attracted the attentions of a number of other Barclays Premier League clubs with his form this season.Varney has scored five goals, including a stunning volley in the 2-1 win over Wolves last month, and manager Ian Holloway has already declared his intention to sign the striker on a permanent deal.Although his fate is not entirely in his own hands, Varney is confident he will be a Blackpool player for the rest of this season and, he hopes, into the future. He told the Blackpool Gazette: "Obviously there has been some nice things said about me and a lot of interest, but I've emphasised from the start that it was never a case of me leaving in January. That doesn't interest me in the slightest."Blackpool have given me a great chance and I think I owe them, at least until the end of the season. Then, in the summer, I would love to sit down and hopefully get something sorted because it is the place I would love to stay and play my football."Source: PA
