Thompson hails departing Jorgensen
The 33-year-old Dane was one of eight players to be informed they would not be kept on by new boss Ian Holloway this week and will now look for a new club after making 100 league starts for the Seasiders.
Thompson told the Blackpool Gazette: "It was a difficult one for us because Claus is a terrific pro who has been a massive part of the success we've had at Blackpool over the last three seasons.
"But it is one of those - at Claus' age I don't think you want want to be a squad player. He has got to be playing and to keep enjoying his football."
He added: "He is a very good pro who looks after himself and he has been a very valuable member of our squad since I've been here."
