Blackpool boss Simon Grayson believes his side are capable of mounting a promotion push this season after witnessing them secure a 3-0 win at struggling Brighton on Sunday.
Keith Southern's 17th minute opener was followed up by a second-half brace from Scott Vernon at the Withdean Stadium as the hosts were condemned to a fifth straight defeat.
However, Grayson preferred to concentrate on his own side's performance and is confident of a bright season after a second consecutive 3-0 success.
He said: "There's no reason why we can't climb the table. We're a match on our day for anybody and we look like we're starting to gel now.
"It was a really hard-working performance and, when we got the opportunity to pass the ball, we played very well.
"I was disappointed to only be 1-0 up at half-time. I thought the second goal would be a massive turning point and fortunately we came out of the traps again in the second half and got it.
"We've never been downbeat, despite the results. Our performances have been good, we just needed to turn draws into wins and two 3-0 victories is a boost."
