Blackpool have confirmed that nine supporters will be banned from Bloomfield Road following allegations of racist and homophobic chanting during the derby with Preston North End.

Supporters from both clubs lodged complaints after Saturday's goalless draw and the Seasiders have taken swift action.

The Championship club have also confirmed that further banning orders could be issued following discussions with local police.

"As a result nine supporters have been identified for racist and public order offences and banning orders or the process of issuing banning orders on these people has begun," read a club statement.

"The local police are continuing to study CCTV footage from the game and more banning orders are expected in the near future."

A spokesman for Lancashire Police added: "The police are now in the process of gathering and reviewing all the evidence available with a view to action against individuals who are identified."
