Seasiders fear for injured Baptiste

Blackpool are waiting to hear how bad Alex John-Baptiste's hand injury is after the defender suffered the problem during training in readiness for the pre-season friendly against FK Jelgava in Latvia.

The 24-year-old former Mansfield Town star has flown back to England to receive treatment on the injury after falling in the final moments of a work-out and landing heavily on his hand.

"We think Alex may have fractured his hand which would be a big blow," confirmed Seasiders boss Ian Holloway. "But we will find out more over the weekend."

Holloway has several other injury concerns as Gary Taylor-Fletcher has a calf problem which requires a scan.

Rob Edwards also picked up an injury in the 2-1 defeat to FK Jelgava although it is not thought to be serious.

DJ Campbell and Matt Phillips both played in the friendly after being signed by Holloway on transfer deadline day.
