Blackpool are closing in on the capture of Bournemouth striker Brett Pitman as Ian Holloway continues to look at ways of strengthening his squad.
The 22-year-old has met Holloway after the two clubs agreed a fee for the highly-rated forward and is now set to discuss personal terms.
Pitman scored 28 goals last season as the Cherries won promotion from League Two and has been on Holloway's wanted list since January.
The fee is believed to be £500,000, rising to £800,000 with add-ons.
"Yes, we've put a bid in," confirmed Holloway, when asked about Pitman. "Will it happen? I don't know.
"Do I want it to happen? Probably yes. Will other people want him? Yes, so who knows.
"It's just a rat race at the minute and we're one of many rats trying to get hold of him."
