Parkes hails plucky Pool
30 Dec 2008 - 09:37:53
Blackpool caretaker manager Tony Parkes hailed his side's spirit after they twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Championship leaders Wolves on Monday night.
Goals from Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Rob Edwards late on secured a point for the battling Seasiders.
"We were the best team in the first half and to come back twice against the league leaders shows a lot of spirit," said Parkes.
"We put Wolves on the back foot in the first half and I think we surprised them with our energy and willingness to close them down quickly.
"They came into it in the second half but they are top of the league and you would expect them to do that against little Blackpool."
Meanwhile, Parkes has reiterated his desire to be handed the job on a full-time basis.
He added: "It's up to the chairman and the board to decide what's going to happen with me and Steve (Thompson), but at the moment we're putting them in a little bit of a corner.
"The more points we pick up and the more the performances are good, the more chance that we might get the job."
