However, Parkes, who looks set to lead the Seasiders to safety, also revealed he would leave with his head held high if a new man was to be handed the role in the summer.[LNB]"Would I want the job if we stay up? I would say yes - as much for Steve Thompson as well," Parkes told the Blackpool Gazette. "Steve has been a big help to me here. He is a local lad and this is his club and I would certainly like him to be here with me as manager and assistant.[LNB]"If it doesn't happen here then I walk away and I will walk away with a lot of good memories and hopefully with the team still in the Championship."[LNB]A win against rock-bottom Charlton at The Valley should be enough to secure second-tier football for another season, but Parkes knows it will not be easy.[LNB]"There are no 'gimmes' in this division and Charlton certainly won't be rolling over. People probably think that because they are just about relegated there will be something in it for us. But it's not like that at all. We will have to earn anything we get down there. It's going to be a test because I think they are a better team now than their league position suggests."[LNB][LNB]
