Oyston keen to keep Holloway

Blackpool chief Karl Oyston vowed to retain Ian Holloway as manager as he came out fighting following his club's controversial fine for fielding a weakened team. The Premier League fined the Seasiders £25,000 for fielding an under-strength side in their defeat at Aston Villa in November. Holloway made 10 changes but vehemently defended his selection, arguing he needed to utilise the depth of his squad amid a three-game week, and threatened to resign if the club were punished. He later tempered those remarks by saying he would only quit if Oyston believed it in the club's best interests and the acting chief executive made clear he does not. Oyston, formerly the club's chairman and likely to resume that role, told talkSPORT: "I support whatever decision he makes so I've no issue with Ian and I think for Ian to even consider resigning when he's done so magnificently well for us since he was appointed is something I certainly wouldn't preside over. "I'll do everything in my power to ensure Ian stays with Blackpool as long as I can keep him there."
