McLeish pleased with Adam heroics
23 Oct 2010 - 10:19:02
Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has heaped praise on Blackpool and their talisman Charlie Adam after making a blistering start to life in the Premier League.
The Scottish star helped the Tangerines beat Cardiff City 3-2 in last season's Championship play-off final and they have both made the transition look somewhat easy so far.
McLeish, who coached Adam when he managed Scottish Premier League champions Rangers, is delighted with the progress he has made in recent times.
Speaking ahead of Birmingham's clash with the Seasiders at St Andrew's, he said: "Blackpool have been a breath of fresh air. They have been great to watch.
"I know Charlie very well. He has had a couple of tremendous seasons at Blackpool. He stepped up to the Premier League and he has not been found wanting. He has been a star.
"We know Charlie has got the ability to cause damage. He has got a tremendous shot on him, he has got good dead ball expertise.
"He is a great passer of the ball. He has really blossomed as a player and I am really proud of him."
