Jones unhappy with City showing
Michael Chopra gave the Bluebirds an early lead but it was the Seasiders who dominated the first half.
Ian Evatt equalised on the stroke of half-time and the lax defending prompted an outburst by Jones.
He said: "Blackpool played really well and we have to look hard at our performance.
"Our players were all watching for the goal and our back five had to work really hard because the players in front were not working hard enough.
"We should have made more goals in the first half and we should have stolen it at the end but this is a very difficult place to come to and we've taken a point.
"We'll be going through things with the players tomorrow because they simply didn't work hard enough."
Cardiff were outplayed in the first half by a Blackpool side revitalised by new manager Ian Holloway.
He has introduced sweeping changes to their training regime which Blackpool defender Evatt believes will see his side going up the division rapidly.
Evatt said: "We're really disappointed we didn't win but we have to be satisfied with a point against a side expected to be up there at the end of the season.
"The gaffer has instilled a lot of confidence into the players and I think it's there for all the fans to see.
"Hopefully this is the season I will be scoring more goals as the gaffer has shown us how to get forward and create more chances."
Evatt scored his second goal this season with a curling shot past the keeper David Marshall to bring the sides level.
The first half had been a keenly-fought affair with Blackpool on top thanks to the dominance of Charlie Adam in midfield and the hosts almost took the lead in the first minute when a dipping drive from Adam was tipped over the bar.
Further efforts from Brett Ormerod and Keith Southern almost put the Seasiders ahead but it was Cardiff who took the lead against the run of play.
The ever industrious Chopra netted his third of the season after beating defender Alex Baptiste and he saw his looping shot deflected into the net.
Blackpool created 16 corners in the match but were unable to convert a single one, Holloway insisting that will not be the case in future.
He said: "We will be working on our set pieces which is something we have not looked at enough. I have apologised to the lads for that.
"It's a great feeling being back in football and I was on the edge of my seat, especially at the end.
"Today I think we played very well against a side tipped for the top. I have shown the lads how we must get forward and it is lovely to see your great big defender curling a goal in like that.
"We deserved three points today but so far we have only got two points from two games and that means one thing - points lost."
