Injuries costly for Grayson

Blackpool manager Simon Grayson was left to rue the loss of both his central defenders in the opening half-hour of their 2-1 defeat at Ipswich Town at the weekend.

Both Ian Evatt and Michael Jackson were forced out of the action at Portman Road, leaving Keith Southern and Shaun Barker to fill in at the back for the Tangerines.

Grayson said afterwards: "It was always going to be difficult before that happened, because Ipswich are a very good team with a great home record.

"But to lose two experienced players, the spine of your team, so early on meant our plans went out the window.

"Keith and Shaun battled manfully in their place but, overall, we were taught a footballing lesson. Ipswich could have scored three, four, or five.

"We rode our luck and had we got anything from the game, I'd have been a bit embarrassed."
