Holloway relieved to snatch sixth
03 May 2010 - 12:43:09
Ian Holloway has called for belief from his Blackpool side despite admitting they "limped" over the line in the race for the final Championship play-off place.
Sunday's 1-1 draw with Bristol City at Bloomfield Road after Brett Ormerod cancelled out Nicky Maynard's opener for the visitors, ensured the Seasiders finished in the all-important sixth spot ahead of Swansea City.
They now face Nottingham Forest in a two-legged play-off semi-final with a place at Wembley and then possibly in the Premier League up for grabs.
"We've limped over the line in the end but you could see what it meant to everybody," said Holloway. "I'm just relieved that we've matched what Swansea did and I'm very, very proud.
"It looked like we were washed up but we've got a chance now. I've just said that someone's got to win it, why can't it be Blackpool? There wouldn't be a better story anywhere.
"Whether we are good enough or not we'll have to wait and see, but we're in there."
