Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has revealed that his biggest regret this summer has been his failure to lure DJ Campbell back to Bloomfield Road.
The 28-year-old found the net 20 times in 38 appearances for the Seasiders during his two loan spells with the club, including 11 goals in 17 games last term as Holloway guided his side to promotion via the play-offs.
However, new Leicester City manager Paulo Sousa has decided to keep the ex-Brentford and Birmingham City striker at the Walkers Stadium.
Holloway said: "The one I wanted to do more than anything else was DJ. I'm sorry I'm not in control of that.
"We're not going to pay £2million or £3million for him because he is 28, but I tried my utmost and we almost did it.
"It was almost there and then his club turned round and said no. And the boy has now scored five goals in his last five games."
