Holloway to rest first XI for cup clash

Manager Ian Holloway has promised to try to win the FA Cup for Blackpool - but not this year. Holloway is prepared to write off this year's competition as he concentrates on Barclays Premier League survival. With a hectic month ahead, Holloway is planning to send out a side made up of fringe players and youth team members in their third-round cup tie at Southampton. Having already played Manchester City and Birmingham, Blackpool still face rearranged league clashes with Liverpool and Manchester United this month as well as regular scheduled fixtures against West Brom and Sunderland. Holloway said: "I want to win everything and one day I will be going for the FA Cup as well with Blackpool. But we are not in that situation at the moment. "I'm moving some of the youth team up the pecking order and I'm going to give some of the lads who haven't played a go. If my fans don't like it I do apologise, but I think we can go down there and give a great account of ourselves. My main team will be rested. They won't even be on the journey because it is an astronomical distance to go when we have a game on Wednesday against Liverpool."
