Holloway sticks to his guns

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is refusing to abandon his principles after seeing his philosophy pay early dividends in the Barclays Premier League.

Holloway's side was immediately installed the favourites for relegation following a remarkable promotion via the Coca-Cola Championship play-offs at the end of last season. The Seasiders arrived at Newcastle determined to make amends for their 4-1 defeat at St James' Park last season, and 90 minutes later, left having secured a 2-0 win and three more precious points.

Holloway said: "There are three points at stake every week and we are going to have a go. What's the point of going into a game to try to get one?

"Where does your game-plan go once you let one in if you go in with a negative attitude? Next week, I have got Chelsea, who can rip teams apart, but for me, so can Newcastle.

"It's all about us trying to do what we can do, and we don't know yet, we don't know what we are going to get next week - they might be quicker, stronger all over the place."
