Blackpool manager Ian Holloway was absent from his side's Carling Cup second round tie at MK Dons to run the rule over a potential new signing.
The Seasiders suffered a shock 4-3 reverse at their League One opponents, with Holloway reportedly away running the rule over Sheffield Wednesday's Marcus Tudgay.
Assistant manager Steve Thompson, who took charge of the Pool squad on Tuesday evening, confirmed: "The gaffer was on a scouting mission and he is probably going to be giving the final rule over a couple of players.
"We need additions to our squad on Saturday and it is probably one of those to have the final say, to go and watch the player himself.
"He's had the scouts looking for him. We've had scouts going all round the country looking at players, so I think it was important that he got to go and look at these players last night."
