Blackpool defender John Hills fears that he will not be offered a new Bloomfield Road contract after failing to recover from ankle ligament damage.

The 29-year-old former Gillingham and Sheffield Wednesday player is currently in his third spell with the Seasiders, but is out of contract at the end of the season.

"I had a scan recently on my ankle and unfortunately I'm out for the rest of the season," Hills told the club's official website.

"The season has been a complete write-off for me, but if I'm still here next season, I'll come back fit and try to take my chance."

Hills has made only one Championship start for Simon Grayson's side this term.
