Blackpool boss Simon Grayson is confident he will tie up the loan signing of Stoke City defender Andy Wilkinson later this week.
The Seasiders, who snapped up former Manchester United striker Phil Marsh earlier this week, had a bid of around £200,000 for the 23-year-old turned down on deadline day.
However, Grayson said: "We weren't far off getting Andy Wilkinson in and hopefully it is something that we can still do.
"The reason we didn't get him was more due to the fact Stoke couldn't get players in and had injuries for the weekend. We were close, but couldn't quite get over the line."
Wilkinson has made 14 first-team appearances for the Potters and also enjoyed loan spells with Shrewsbury Town and Blackpool.
