Grayson offers Coid hope

Blackpool boss Simon Grayson has offered some encouragement to Danny Coid who has lost his place in the first team to Shaun Barker recently.

The 27-year-old midfielder has spent his entire career with the Seasiders and is scheduled to have a testimonial this season, but has failed to start a Championship match since the draw with Norwich City almost two months ago.

Grayson insists Coid is still in his thoughts though, telling the Gazette: "I'd say Danny is the most unfortunate player to be out of the 11. He worked hard in pre-season and he started the season well.

"We changed it round for the third league game, against Sheffield United, because we thought they had a great aerial threat and that Shaun Barker would be able to combat that a little better than Danny.

"Danny acknowledged that was the right decision and Shaun's done okay since.

"But just because Shaun has played well recently, doesn't mean he's guaranteed a place."
