Manager Simon Grayson was delighted to see his side secure their Championship survival with a 1-1 draw at home to play-off bound Watford.
The Tangerines ended the season in 19th place, a mere two points clear of the drop zone.
Grayson said: "It's a magnificent achievement by this football club to stay in the division.
"It would have been nice to have been able to do it a few weeks ago, when we got to a certain point in the season with a certain number of points.
"But that wasn't to be the case, so there was obviously quite a lot of pressure on the players and the staff going into this game.
"We'd worked so hard for 45 games that we didn't want it to disappear in one game.
"Eventually we got our just rewards as we've stayed in the division and I think we deserve to."
