Gilks reaping reward for hard work

The 27-year-old made his first appearance of the season in the 2-0 victory over Plymouth last Saturday and kept a second successive clean sheet in Tuesday's 3-0 defeat of Sheffield United. Gilks, who signed in 2008, is expected to keep his place for Saturday's trip to Swansea and he credits his improvement to hard work. He told the official website: "I'm very much delighted, I've waited long enough for a chance and last year I got in the team only to be taken out again. "But I've come back with a different mentality this year, got my head down, worked hard in training and it's paid off for me at the moment. "There were a few nerves on Saturday but the way I've been playing in training this year I knew I could make the step up and perform for the first team as well."
