Blackpool midfielder Danny Coid faces an extended spell on the sidelines as he requires surgery on a broken right ankle.
The 24-year-old was injured during the 1-1 draw with Tranmere Rovers at the weekend and is likely to have an operation to insert a screw into the joint.
"We have examined Danny's ankle and he does require surgery," Seasiders physio Phil Horner told the Blackpool Gazette.
"We will operate at the earliest opportunity, but we have to wait for the swelling to go down."
Coid has made more than 250 appearances for the Seasiders during his career.
