Blackpool have started shaping their squad for life in the Premier League after releasing five players.

Danny Nardiello, Hameur Bouazza, Al Bangura, Danny Mitchley and Joe Martin have been released following their Championship play-off final success over Cardiff City last weekend.

The quintet were all out of contract at Bloomfield Road this summer.

"It has been a crazy time," explained manager Ian Holloway. "We have gone from the euphoria of the weekend and the magnificent homecoming parade to the harsh reality of preparing a retained list. "

Meanwhile, striker Stephen McPhee has been forced to retire at the age of 28 after failing to recover from a serious knee ligament injury picked up 13 months ago.
