Osbourne back for Seasiders

Blackpool welcome back midfielder Isaiah Osbourne for the New Year's Day clash with high-flying Hull at Bloomfield Road.

Osbourne missed Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Middlesbrough as he served a one-match ban for collecting five yellow cards this season.

On-loan Aston Villa forward Nathan Delfouneso made way for midfielder Angel Martinez before half-time at the Riverside Stadium but, with Pool 2-0 down at that stage, boss Michael Appleton's decision appeared to be a tactical one.

Having slammed their first-half display at Boro as the worst during his time in charge, Appleton is expecting a response against the Tigers.

"It's probably the best game we could have," he told Blackpool's official website. "It's in front of our own fans and it's obviously against a team that are flying. Hopefully we react properly and in the right way to it."

Defender Ian Evatt (knee) and winger Matt Phillips (toe) remain on the sidelines.

Hull defender Ahmed Elmohamady is doubtful due to a calf injury but Alex Bruce is available following suspension.

Elmohamady was forced off in the closing stages of Saturday's home win over Leeds and replaced by Liam Rosenior, who is on stand-by if the right wing-back fails to make it.

Defender Bruce has missed the last three matches following his recent dismissal against Huddersfield and provides manager Steve Bruce with an alternative option.

Boss Bruce has no other new injury or suspension problems and could field an unchanged line-up if Elmohamady proves his fitness as Hull look to extend their unbeaten league run to eight matches.

Striker Sone Aluko looks set to continue following his recent return from more than a month out with an Achilles injury while fellow forwards Nick Proschwitz and Jay Simpson plus midfielders Seyi Olofinjana and Tom Cairney are all hoping to be involved.
